Performed Materials

Artist Jane Cheadle mapped the rhythms of Junction Road with charcoal, paint, water and light on the walls and floor of the Windows space, constructing a site-specific stop frame animation. Discovering the potential of the angled glass window to reflect the room back upon itself Jane worked at night, painting Archway back into the space, and capturing the process to construct the animations. Illuminated by strong lights, dressed in a bright red boiler suit, her became an enigmatic and enticing spectacle. The animations that evolved out of the painted gestures were an unexpected and delightful translation of the place outside, and survive as a reminder of an ephemeral present.
